I wouldn't mind a offline Destiny campaign collection, but I doubt Bungie sees any value in that. the end of Halo 2s fifth mission and the opening sequence of ODST are taking place at the same time and share a major events. It would be a shame to have it all lost to the aether, which I think will be the most likely outcome. To play the games in chronological order to when the events took place in the universe: Halo Reach. its probably closer to call of duty than mass effect, but that doesnt mean they dont have good stories. Play in release order: Combat evolved->2->3->ODST->reach->4->5. Story wise play them after you played halo 1-3. Featuring a re-mastered Halo 2: Anniversary, along with Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo wars and spartan ops are spin offs and not even shooters. I'm very curious what Bungie will do to maintain their Destiny story once The Final Shape is out and they're focusing on the next saga. For the first time ever, The Master Chiefs entire story is on one console. You work up to some interesting revelations and then, just when you're about to get them, the story ends. I do have to add I recently replayed the Shadowkeep campaign on another character and had forgotten how absolutely empty that story is too. All these titles confuse the living fuck out of me. After Witch Queen, I thought Lightfall would be a slam dunk, but it ended up more of a wet fart instead. I own Game Pass, and included are the following games: Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo 3, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo: Reach, Halo Wars 2: Complete Edition, Halo Wars: Definite Edition, Halo: Spartan War, Halo: Spartan Strike. To make things concise, weve not included the mobile games or anniversary remakes. With so much storytelling going on, not all of it's going to be a winner. Here are the Halo games in release order, alongside their launch dates. It's amazing they've managed to salvage most of the characters and concepts introduced since then, but storywise the first Destiny was an absolute nothingburger. The first game's story famously made no sense, because it was a literal kitbash of another story the higher-ups at Bungie hated. What is the best order to play the Halo games in If you’re new to the series, then we recommend that you start with Halo 3 and work your way backward from there. The transition to 3 was a bit rough and Bungie seemed to go out of their way to contradict their earlier lore while writing Reach, but the games itself hang together quite nicely.ĭestiny started off as such a mess, lmao. Halo 2's story in particular was *chef's kiss*, even if a third of it was missing. The stories told in-game were coherent and well-structured. Destiny likes to grapple with existential concepts, but Marathon did it first. What I know about the story is absolute insanity. Marathon was built around those terminals, so it gets a pass. The only problem is that most of the interesting stuff is always found in lore books/terminals and not necessarily in-game. I love all the universes Bungie has created.
